Assignments
CIS110 • Introduction to Computers
The sequence below is the order the course runs in. How many calendar weeks each block takes depends on whether you're in a full-length or a compressed section - the Schedule numbers the weeks, and your LMS has the actual due dates and point values.
Modules vary in length and difficulty, so they don't line up one to a week. A long module may run across two or three weeks, and a week may hold several short ones. Your LMS shows the actual grouping on its modules page - that page is the authority on what belongs to which week.

Windows 11
Nine modules, each a reading and a training: the desktop, file and folder management, personalizing your environment, advanced customization, searching, Microsoft Edge, digital media, and security, networking, and utilities.
Outlook and Teams
Outlook across five modules - email, calendars, contacts, tasks, and customizing - then Teams across three: the basics, running productive meetings, and building an effective Teams environment. Each finishes with a capstone project.
Word
Eleven modules, from a first flyer through research papers, business letters, multipage documents, resumes, mail merge, newsletters, collaboration and charts, reference documents, and online forms with macros. Three capstone projects close it out.
Excel
Eleven modules, from a first worksheet and chart through formulas and functions, what-if analysis, financial functions and amortization, multiple workbooks, tables and queries, templates and imported data, trendlines and pivot tables, formula auditing and data validation, Power tools and macros, and finally VBA. Three capstone projects close it out.
PowerPoint
Eight modules, from creating and editing presentations through shapes and SmartArt, WordArt and charts, slide masters, animation, collaboration, tables and charts, media, and photo albums. Two capstone projects close it out.
Digital Literacy and AI
Twelve modules, each with a skills exam: the impact of digital technology, the web, hardware and processors, operating systems and file management, app use, cybersecurity and safety, digital media, app development, web development, networking, digital communication, and digital transformation.
The course closes with Microsoft Copilot and an introduction to generative AI and ethics, each with its own training. Read the AI policy before you get there.
Finalize Your Grade
The last stretch assigns nothing new. Retake the capstones worth retaking, close out unfinished trainings, and make sure your journal and work logs are complete.
From a student who had fallen behind: work the capstones first, since they're the fastest and most heavily weighted. Break the trainings into small sittings. And do the work log immediately - it takes under a minute if you copy the format from your last one.
Extra Credit
The Leadership Series runs each term and earns extra credit.
