Journals
Every course of mine keeps a personal journal: one post per module plus replies to classmates, on its own ongoing board that stays open all term. The work log is a separate board with a separate format - the journal is where you reflect, the work log is where you record the hours.
CIS110 adds an honors journal for students taking the course for honors credit. It follows this same format on its own board, and it runs alongside the personal journal rather than replacing it.
Layout Sample
Follow this structure when you build your journal thread so each root post, module entry, and reply stays in the right position.
Note: The "ROOT POST" is the main thread for your journal. Each "Heading 3" is a new journal entry for a module. The "Paragraph" is the starter post for that module, and the replies are comments from classmates.
The structure should look like this in your forum thread. Note that if you are using a tool that allows you to make your own threads, your starter post IS your root.
Where your LMS gives the post its own subject line, edit that line to match. Where it doesn't, add an H4 subject in this format: So-and-so's Journal - Week #Letter - Topic Here
