CRAP Website Evaluations (M8A)
Research the CRAP principles of design - Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity - until you can evaluate a webpage with them. Search "CRAP design principles" or watch a Principles of Design (CRAP) video for examples. (Not to be confused with M5A's CRAPpy page, where you committed the sins yourself.)
The Evaluations
- Find two websites: one you think is designed well, one that's terrible - the worse the better.
- Evaluate each against all four CRAP principles.
The Page
- Create website_evaluations.html inside your itis3135 folder, following all the usual page guidelines: header + h1 (site name), main + h2 (page name), footer.
-
One section per evaluated site, containing:
- An h3 with the site's name (Ex: Apple) - clickable, opening in a new tab.
- An unordered list with 4 items - one per CRAP principle - with your assessment of how the site did.
- Add the page to the navigation menu on every course page - it belongs in the internal links section, themed like everything else.
Submitting
- Your course URL - the evaluations page an obvious link in the internal nav.
- Peer reviews: apply these instructions as a GO/NO-GO checklist to at least two classmates who don't already have two reviews.
What gets checked: the page exists and is in the nav; it has an h2, a section per site with a linked h3 opening in a new tab, and 4 CRAP items per evaluation (8+ list items total).
