freeCodeCamp & Codecademy Setup/Start (M0e)
Create the two practice-platform accounts you'll use through the semester, make your progress publicly visible, and do the first bit of work on each.
Accounts
- Create accounts on freeCodeCamp and Codecademy — ideally with the Google account tied to your school account.
- Your username must include your name, initials, or mascot — something that identifies it as you, since we cross-reference with Canvas. Add whatever else you like to the profiles.
Make It Visible
- Set both profiles public — points, timeline, certifications, activity heatmap; anything that demonstrates the work.
- Test with a private/incognito window: open the URL you're about to submit. If it works there, we can see it. If it doesn't, we can't — and can't grade it.
Do the First Work
- freeCodeCamp: earn at least 10 points.
- Codecademy: complete the Welcome to Codecademy lesson.
Submitting
- Your freeCodeCamp profile URL showing timeline, certifications, 10+ points, and activity.
- Your Codecademy profile URL showing the Welcome lesson completed.
- Make the URLs clickable — edit the text if needed. Submit profile URLs, not codecademy.com/learn or another generic page.
- Add any notes you'd care to share.
What gets checked: the freeCodeCamp profile is public with 10+ points; the Codecademy profile is public with the Welcome lesson done. No partial score — 1/20 means fix things asap, not "5% done."
